It really happened again

As I wrote last Tuesday, the doctors thought I was having another miscarriage, but they were not 100% sure.

On Thursday, I went to my doctor’s office and she confirmed that I was having a miscarriage. This time around, there is an explanation: the embryo was not well formed. She showed me the details on the ultrasound pictures. I was sad, devastated even…. But it seems I am making peace with it.

After a long conversation with her, we decided that, due to my age and Hubby’s age, a geneticist consultation is in order. She (honestly) thinks there is nothing wrong with any of us, especially since both of my miscarriages have nothing in common (the first one was at 16 weeks and the second was at 6 weeks). But we will give it a shot and this consultation will sure give us some peace of mind.

One particular thing about Brazilian Health System, we do not need referral to go to a specific doctor. We can just call and make an appointment to see that specific doctor. If the doctor you want is covered by your insurance, perfect. If not, you can pay full price for the consultation.

Based on this premise, I will schedule an appointment with another OB to see another opinion after the geneticist consultation. My nutritionist recommended the doctor who took care of her two pregnancies. She had a miscarriage on her first pregnancy, and on her second one, she was pregnant with twins and she miscarried one. And I Google the doctor´s name and he is a BIG name in high risk pregnancies down here in Bra**zil. So, we will see.

Happy Wednesday!!!

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

Welcome to another Miscellany Monday.

I missed last week, due to health issues (I will write more about it later in the week).

1. After almost a week of bed rest, I have to go back to work today. I don't feel like going to work, but there is no way out of going back.

2. Hubby and I finally organize our calendars and we are finally able to schedule our vacation in late September. Now it is time to plan a trip and a few renovations at our house on our time off.

3. I went to the mall this weekend for some retail therapy. I bought three beautiful blouses from Za**ra and they only cost R$ 67,00 (+/- US$ 35,00). I also bought a scarf and a new pair of earrings.

4. I will keep my retail therapy this week: I am in need of work pants and a new pair of black sandals with chunky heels.

5. I will start to read a few things about gardening. Our yard is in terrible shape and in desperate need of a makeover.

6. I hope to go back to my workout routine this week after two weeks of not getting closer to the gym.

7. I want to make a list of projects that we need to finish at our house before the end of the year.

I guess that is it for this week ; )

Happy Monday!!!!

Commenting Challenge

Jenna from Jenna’s Journey wrote on Twitter last week about how many blogs we read and we do not comment.

Well, I have a few URL on my Favorites that I read and not comment. Don’t ask me why, I just don’t.

So, she proposed a challenge: to visit and comment 10 blogs or more for 7 days. With this, we will be able to meet new bloggers and hopefully make new blog friends.

One thing I can say, I made really wonderful blog friends who have been a huge support within this past year. I am so THANKFUL for them.

What about you? Are you up for the challenge?

It happened again

Last Tuesday Hubby and I were THRILLED to find out that I was pregnant again. I was 5 weeks and 3 days pregnant. We were walking in egg shells, but THRILLED.

On Thursday, I went to my doctor and she put me on semi-bed rest, no travels, no weight lift, and no heels and work one day a week at home to help relieve the stress.

We spent last weekend at home, relaxing and enjoying the news.

Late Sunday, I started to feel a little discomfort on my belly. It really looked like a little cramp, but nothing strong.

The pain was there yesterday ALL DAY LONG. By mid-afternoon I started to have a little bleeding (sorry if this is too much information).

24 hours later, a visit to the ER, an ultrasound with no heartbeat and a blood work with almost the same Beta result of last week, it looks like I am having another miscarriage.

Truth to be told: I DON”T KNOW WHAT TO THINK!!! I am sad, I am angry, I am in pain.

I am sorry if this post seems I am venting, but I am completely lost.

Ah, she never fails me!!!!

Last Saturday, I woke up craving some brownie.
And truth to be told, brownie is not a really Bra**zilian thing. In Bra**zil, you will find plenty of Chocolate Cake Recipes, but brownie will only be found in fancy bakeries (I am talking about São Pau**lo).
When, I first go married, one of my first cooking books (that I bought) was How to be a domestic goddess, by Ni**gella Law**son. So, this recipe has a especial place on my heart ; )
Needless to say it was DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!

With no further a due: Nigella's Brownie Recipe

Ingredients

Directions

Preheat the oven to 180°C.

Line your approximately 33 x 23 x 5 1/2cm brownie pan with foil or baking paper.

Melt the butter and chocolate together in a large heavy based saucepan.

In a bowl beat the eggs with the sugar and vanilla.

Measure the flour into another bowl and add the salt.

When the chocolate mixture has melted, let it cool a bit before beating in the eggs and sugar mixture, and then the nuts and flour.

Beat to combine and then scrape out of the saucepan into the lined brownie pan.

Bake for about 25 minutes.

When it’s ready, the top should be dried to a paler brown speckle, but the middle still dark and dense and gooey.

Keep checking the brownies as they cook; remember that they will continue to cook as they cool.

PS.: Today is a state holiday, so I have the day off ; )

The big fall

*** The title was updated since I made a mistake ; ) ****** Thanks Marylin for the tip.

Hubby told me I would look like a fool if I told you about my fell.

But as Gabriela likes to write, I have to blog before I forget about it.
Last Thursday, on my lunch break, I went to Endossa to buy a birthday gift for Hubby's intern (since she invited us for the party). This cute store is like a real Etsy. You can find the most cute hand made/especial made gifts by real especial artists.
A co-worker and I had a lunch and on our way to the store, I stepped on a on a whole in the side walk and twisted my ankle.
Can you imagine a person felling in front of you and just rolling on the side walk?!?!? Well, that was me. I lost one of shoe, twisted one of my toes (don't ask how), tear one of my sleeves and two HUGE bruises on my two knees.
My purse slipped from my shoulder and ended up under a bus tire that was stopped due to a closed street sign. Luckily, my co-worker was with me and while she got my purse back, a gentleman helped me to get on my feet again.
Until now, I don't know how I didn't break anything and just ended with two huge bruises and some sore body.....

I hope you are having a great week ; )
